The Rescue: A Book Review

The Rescue by Jim Cymbala

I read Jim Cymbala's book Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire in college for a class. I loved it! It was inspirational and left the reader with an incredible sense of the power of prayer. This book isn't about the power of prayer, but instead the stories of seven ordinary people. Each individual had a moment where their lives should have ended badly, but miraculously did not end and found God met them in that place.

There are so many things I loved about this new book. First, the book itself is not thick. It's a quick read not based on the size alone, but also based on how quickly the reader will devour the stories. This book is about ordinary people whose lives were redeemed by God from dark places and restored to a fullness that is only possible from God. It's raw and beautiful. There's no way that you will walk away from this book without a renewed sense of God's intimate and wonderful redeeming love.
